ISSUE / QUESTION / SYMPTOM

When your Talk2M account is downgraded from Pro to Free+, the firewall setting of your Ewons is automatically set to "HIGH".

POSSIBLE CAUSES / ANSWER

This behavior is normal and is intended to guarantee the secured access of your LAN devices behind your Ewons.

As all your groups of users and pools of Ewons are lost in the downgrade process, so are the access restrictions on your Ewons.

That means that all users could connect to any Ewon on the account and the LAN devices behind it if the firewall setting was previously set to "STANDARD".

To avoid this security issue, the firewall settings of all the Ewons on the downgraded account are automatically set to "HIGH".

You can of course modify it for each device afterwards or define the accessible LAN devices.

Inside Ecatcher, the LAN device firewall settings can be changed from within the properties window of each Ewon device:

  • Select your Ewon from the list, click on the Properties menu, and then on the Configure LAN Devices & Firewall button.
This will open the Device & Firewall Configuration window, where you can change the firewall level from High to Standard.
However, if you want to control or limit what can be accessed on the LAN network, it’s better to keep the firewall level set to High and specify the LAN devices that are allowed to be accessed remotely.
  • If you performed the firewall changes while already connected to the Ewon, please disconnect and reconnect to the device for the changes to take effect.
