"The device is already assigned" error in AC Cloud Control gateways

In this article, we explain why the error message "The device is already assigned" appears when you try to add an AC Cloud Control gateway to your account and how to overcome the problem.

QUESTION

Why am I getting the error "The device is already assigned"?

ANSWER 

The message "The device is already assigned" appears when the gateway is already being used in another AC Cloud Control account. To add it to your account, the AC Cloud Control gateway must be deleted from the other account.
