How to Replace or Convert an Ewon Netbiter device in Argos

This article explains how to replace or convert a Netbiter for another in the Argos Cloud. 

Note!

The replace functionality is used for replacing Netbiter models within the EC300 series and the convert functionality is used for replacing older Netbiter EC devices with new devices from the EC300 series.  

Note!

When converting an old Netbiter system (non-EC300 series) to a new one, all parameters linked to an external device template will follow on to the new Ewon EC300-series device. All parameters linked to the Netbiter system configuration will need to be re-configured due to differences in hardware.

SQ100, SQ200, WS100, WS200, EC150, EC220, EC250, EC310, EC320, EC350, EC360, Argos

 

PRE-REQUISITES 

Access to admin user in Argos

Activation codes for both Netbiter units, the new device and the existing one in the account that will be replaced.

Accessing System management in a Standard Argos Account
Navigate to www.netbiter.net and log into the account using the account administrator credentials.

    1. Navigate to Management.
    2. Then navigate to System.
    3. Select the Properties tab.
    4. Click in advanced config in front of the System ID field

Accessing System Management in a Manage and Analyze Argos Cloud Account
Navigate to www.netbiter.net and log into the account using the account administrator credentials.

    1. Navigate to Management.
    2. Then navigate to All Systems.
    3. Select the Add System tab.

Adding and replacing a Netbiter

Follow the steps below

  1. Enter the New/Replacement devices Info
    • Note: When replacing or converting devices, they will swap names when procedure is completed. The name used in this step will be associated with the old device after the replacement.
  2. Add the device but do not active it. The new device will show up in the Inactive tab 
  3. Navigate back to the Active tab.

  1. Click on the Replace button for the device that shall be replaced

  2. Enter the Activation code for the device being replaced.
  3. Select your New/Replacement System from the drop down menu.
  4. Enter the Replacement Systems activation code.

    IMPORTANT
    If you have an old Ewon Netbiter device outside of the EC3xx series, please follow step 8, if you have a Netbiter device within the EC300 series, follow step 9. 
  5. Click the Convert button (red arrow)
  6. Click the Replace button (green arrow)

The devices are now swapped.

 

If you the replaced Netbiter device used a cellular connection, follow to next chapter "If using a cellular connection", otherwise jump to chapter "Synchronize device"

 

If using a cellular connection

If the Netbiter was connected using a cell modem you will need to manually swap the SIM card and configure the APN.

Synchronize the new Ewon Netbiter device

Follow the steps below

  1. Select the Ewon Netbiter device in Argos and navigate to the Configuration tab and press the button to Synchronize configuration.
