ISSUE / QUESTION / SYMPTOM

How can I switch from the internal CAN interface board to a USB-to-CAN V2?

POSSIBLE CAUSES / ANSWER

The Ixxat VCI driver package supports all Ixxat CAN interface boards. The VCI programming interface is the same for all Ixxat CAN interfaces. Usually, the board selection in the application automatically uses the first available Ixxat CAN interface board. So, no matter whether it is an internal PCI, PCIe, PCIe Mini, or an external CANblue II, CAN@net/VCI or USB-to-CAN V2 – simply change the CAN interface and start your application. Usually there is no need to change your application.

If the used application supports only a specific Ixxat CAN interface board type or a certain serial number, e.g. due to any security reasons, you need to adapt the board selection in the application to either the new certain board or to auto-detection, if you wish to be more flexible. You can find a detailed description in the VCI programming manual. Our technical services team will support you if any difficulties occur.
