How To Connect My AC Cloud Device after a router/modem change?

27 Jul 2022

This article explains how to connect AC Cloud Control devices after a router/modem change.

BACKGROUND INFO

AC Cloud Control devices store the router/access point settings, which are needed to connect to the Wi-Fi network and to the Internet. When the user replaces the old router/access point with a new one, the new settings must be stored again to grant the connection of the device to the Wi-Fi network.

APPLICABLE PRODUCTS

All devices from the AC Cloud Control series, including the Universal IR products:

INWFIDAI001I100, INWFIDAI001R100, INWFIFGL001I100, INWFIFGL001R100, INWFILGE001R100, INWFIMHI001I100, INWFIMHI001R100, INWFIPAN001R100, INWFIPAN001I100, INWFITOS001R100, INWFIUNI001I000

LEGACY PRODUCTS: INWFIDAI001R000, INWFIDAI001I000, INWFIFGL001R000, INWFIFGL001I000, INWFIPAN001R000, INWFIPAN001I000, INWFIMHI001R000, INWFIMHI001I000, INWFILGE001R000, INWFITOS001R000

PRE-REQUISITES

You must soft-reset the device to erase the previous Wi-Fi settings. This procedure will also enable the device's configuration mode:

1. Press and hold the button for 10 seconds.
2. Release the button.

After that, the LED behavior will depend on the specific device and the status of the Bluetooth:

- Devices with an order code ending in 0xx do not have Bluetooth connection, so the LED will blink green for 10 seconds, and then it will turn solid green.

- Devices with an order code ending in 1xx do have Bluetooth connection, so the LED will behave according to the Bluetooth status:
- If the device's Bluetooth connection is enabled, the LED will blink green and blue.
- If the device's Bluetooth connection is disabled, the LED will blink green for 10 seconds, and then it will turn solid green.

INTRODUCE THE NEW WI-FI CONFIGURATION INTO THE DEVICE

To do so, follow the instructions of one of the following Quick Guides, depending on the specific AC Cloud Control device:

- Order code ending in R1xx (RC devices with Bluetooth connection): https://www.hms-networks.com/docs/default-source/products/intesis/quick-guides/quick-wireless-configuration-rc-bluetooth.pdf

- Order code ending in R0xx (RC devices without Bluetooth connection): https://www.hms-networks.com/docs/default-source/products/intesis/quick-guides/rc_quick_wireless_config.pdf

- Order code ending in I1xx (AC devices with Bluetooth connection): https://www.hms-networks.com/docs/default-source/products/intesis/quick-guides/quick-wireless-configuration-ac-bluetooth.pdf

- Order code ending in I0xx (AC devices without Bluetooth connection): https://www.hms-networks.com/docs/default-source/products/intesis/quick-guides/ac_quick_wireless_config.pdf

If everything goes well: The device will reconnect to the Internet and to the AC Cloud Control account, and no extra action will be required.

If the device cannot establish a connection to the Internet: In that case, note that AC Cloud Control devices support the following Wi-Fi parameters:

  • 2.4 GHz band.
  • Maximum data rate: 11 Mbps.
  • Ports used by the gateway: 80, 443, 4000, from 4210 to 4259, and from 5210 to 5240.
  • The first generation of AC Cloud Control devices only supports the Wi-Fi standard IEEE 802.11 b. The serial number of the first generation of devices begins with 001D.
  • The second generation of AC Cloud Control gateways supports the Wi-Fi standard IEEE 802.11 b/g/n. The serial number of the second generation of gateways begins with CC3F.
  • Mesh network topology is not supported regardless of the generation.
