ISSUE
HMS IPconfig does not find Wireless Bolt or Bridge
POSSIBLE CAUSES
- Make sure version 4.3.0.0 of HMS IPconfig is installed:
This version can be downloaded from HMS Networks General Downloads.
Note that version 5.0.0.0 of HMS IPconfig does not support the AT commands of the Wireless Bolt or Bridge and so cannot be used for these devices.
- Make sure the utility is scanning the correct adapter/interface:
- Select the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner:
- A specific interface to scan with or all interfaces can be selected:
When the Bolt/Bridge is found, it can be selected to change its IP configuration, if necessary, so that the web interface can be reached.
- Verify that the Bolt/Bridge is powered on and the LEDs are lit up (on the Bolt 18-pin versions these can be seen through the reset hole on the bottom of the Bolt).
- Ensure that the Antivirus or Firewall is not blocking the utility/program.
- The easiest way to determine if an AV or firewall application is blocking IPconfig, is to temporarily disable it.
- Once it's determined that either the AV or firewall is the issue, an exception for HMS IPconfig can be added and it can be re-enabled.
- In Windows, to add HMS IPconfig to the firewall’s allowed list, the ‘Windows Defender Firewall’ options in the Control Panel can be used:
- If HMS IPconfig is not in the list of allowed apps, it can be added by clicking ‘Allow another app’:
- HMS IPconfig’s path is ‘C:\program files (x86)\hms\ipconfig\hms.ipconfig.exe’.
- The networks where HMS IPconfig should be allowed can then be selected:
- Make sure there is no network adapter/interface interference.
- In the Network Adapters list, other active adapters can be temporarily disabled (including Wi-Fi):
- If the problem persists, the Bolt or Bridge should be reset to it's default settings. With the unit powered on, the reset or mode button should be pressed and held for at least 10 seconds and then released.
- The Bolt will revert to its factory IP address (192.168.0.99 for AWB2xxx & AWB3xxx, 192.168.0.98 for AWB1xxx). The web interface should now be manually accessible using a browser.
- The default username is ‘admin’. The default password is ‘admin’ for AWB2xxx and AWB3xxx and is printed on the case for AWB1xxx.
