i4SCADA SmartEditor Pixel Offset On Objects

19 Mar 2026

Symptom:

When designing a page in SmartEditor, all objects appear to be aligned correctly. However, after the page is published and displayed in a browser window, there is a pixel offset, and the objects are no longer properly aligned.

During design time:

During runtime in browser:

Cause:

Modern graphics cards offer high screen resolutions. However, the Windows operating system allows you to scale the screen resolution to improve readability on the screen. Sometimes, the Windows operating system automatically sets a scaling factor of 125%.

If a SmartEditor page was designed based on a scaled screen resolution, this will later cause a misalignment when the page is displayed in the browser.

Solution:

- Create SmartEditor based projects with a scaling factor of 100%

Optional:

Windows allows to set an exception on high DPI resolutions for an application itself.

Right‑click the EXE file or the shortcut for SmartEditor
Select Properties
Go to the Compatibility tab
Click Change high DPI settings
Under Override high DPI scaling behavior, you can choose:

  • Application
  • System
  • System (Enhanced)

“System (Enhanced)” is often the best option.
