This article explains how to mitigate the FTP error "431 directory does not exist" for your Ethernet based Anybus CompactCom.
All Ethernet based Anybus CompactCom products.
While trying to access the file system of the Anybus CompactCom via FTP, you get the "431 directory does not exist" error, and the file system access fails. Additionally, in this situation, you may also be unable to access the web interface of the Anybus CompactCom in your web browser.
To solve this issue, you need to format the file system by sending the Format Disc command (x30) from the application towards instance #0 of the Anybus File System Interface Object (0Ah).
After this, you should be able to access the file system correctly via FTP. This operation also helps rebuild the default web pages of the module. Therefore, the web access should also work again properly.
Note that in case you are using the preloaded Anybus CompactCom B40 Mini Common Ethernet (AB6116-B), formatting the file system will also erase the '/Network FW' directory. In order to avoid this, we advise you to get in contact with our Technical Support team via our Support portal.
