Installation of the Sixnet I/O Tool Kit Fails; Cannot Access Certain Files

Abstract

Sometimes when upgrading from 3.60.118 to 5.0.103 installation will fail because some dll and exe files were not closed correctly. A reboot will allow those files to be closed they can be overwritten by the next installation attempt. The document describes the steps to complete this.

Use Case: Installation of the Sixnet I/O Tool Kit fails

Required Software

Sixnet I/O Tool Kit 5.0.100 or above.

Installation is interrupted because files were left open

  1. Some files are left open and cannot be deleted. Installation cannot be completed correctly because some files like sxtools.exe, sxcfg.dll and sxReg.dll cannot be deleted.

  2. Reboot the computer and re-run the installation. Abort the installation re-boot and try again. This will allow the files to be closed. When the installation runs again the files will be deleted correctly.
