Abstract

This document provides a step by step procedure defining how to upgrade firmware on a RAM and SN Sixnet® series cellular router.

Products

Red Lion Controls RAM/SN: 66xx, 68xx, 67xx, 69xx, RAM 9xxx.

Note: This procedure is not suited for RAM 6021.

Use Case: Upgrading Router Firmware

Upgrading firmware of Non-LTE models: RAM/SN 66xx, 68xx

Upgrading firmware of LTE models: RAM/SN 67xx, 69xx, RAM 9xxx

Required Software:

Web Browser

Upgrade firmware for LTE models. RAM/SN 69xx, 67xx, RAM 9xxx

NOTE: It is strongly recommended to be directly connected (via USB or LAN) to the device. Firmware upgrade on Cellular WAN is not recommended. This procedure is not suited for RAM 6021.

1. Download the latest firmware from the following link: http://www.redlion.net/industrial-wireless-software-firmware

2. Extract the zip file.

3. Referring to Figure 1, log into the RAM Web Browser Type the device’s LAN/WAN IP, port 10000 into a web browser.

Referring to Figure 2, log in using:

a. User Name: admin
b. Password: Last six digits of the device’s serial number

4. Navigate to Admin - Firmware Update, see Figure 3.

5. Select the boot image file. Browse to the extracted zip file and select: 3.2x_4.2x_sn_reflash\Images\sng25-bootfs.jffs2

6. Select the root image file. Browse to the extracted zip file and select: 3.2x_4.2x_sn_reflash\Images\sng25-rootfs.jffs2

7. Preserve Current Configuration: Select Yes for the device to save its current configuration and restore it after the firmware image is installed. Select No for the factory default configuration.

8. Click Install on the bottom of the screen, see Figure 5.

9. Latest firmware is now uploaded on RAM/SN router. The firmware version can be seen on the Home screen of the router configuration. Firmware Version 4.xx applies for LTE models.
