This article explains how to correctly enter virtual attributes items in the Anybus Virtual Attributes Manager.

How to use the Anybus Virtual Attributes Manager?

Requirements

1. The USB Development Board II (which is part of the Anybus Starterkit) is required as an interface between the PC and the Anybus CompactCom module.

Set up the USB Development Board II as follows:

  • Control Switch (labeled "2" below): switches 1 & 2: OFF
  • Rotary RX/TX switch (labeled "4" below): set to 1

 

2. The Anybus Transport Provider needs to be installed.

 

Entering virtual attributes into the Anybus Virtual Attributes Manager

When entering individual virtual attributes into the editor, please note that a trailing space character is necessary at the end of the data bytes:

When you're finished with your list of virtual attributes, you'll need to hit "Enter" once more so that the focus jumps to a new line:

Only then the list of virtual attributes will have the correct format to be downloaded to the Anybus CompactCom 40 module or to be saved into a file.

The data bytes are supposed to be entered in big endian format.
