Talk2m FAQ : New Talk2m free subscription conditions

Here is a list of potential questions you might ask yourself around the new conditions of the Talk2m free subscription :

 

Question 1: What are the conditions of the Talk2m free plan?
Response:

  • Access to Talk2m free is no longer unlimited in time. To benefit from this plan, it is necessary to register at least one new Ewon device on Ecatcher every 12 months.  A "new Ewon device" is a device that has never been registered on the Talk2m cloud. Re-registering an existing device DOES NOT extend your Talk2m free subscription.

  • The grace period mechanism disappears. It will no longer be possible to exceed the limits of a Talk2m free account (for VPN traffic and mailbox downloads). If the limit is exceeded, the account will be capped until the end of the current month.

Question 2:

When will the new Talk2m free conditions be effective?
Response:

Customers have until August 2024 to comply with the new conditions (register a device for 12 months free or switch to Talk2m light or Talk2m pro). If no action is taken, their account will be suspended and they will no longer be able to connect to their devices.

In addition, as of May 2024, there is no longer a grace period in Talk2m free plan.

The new conditions are now communicated and we inform our customers 3 months in advance by e-mail if any action is required on their part.

 

Question 3:

How to avoid the suspension of my Talk2m free account?
Response:

If you want to continue using a Talk2m free account, make sure you register a new device at least once every 12 months. If the last device registered was before August 2023, it's important to act quickly.

 

Question 4:

I’m a Talk2m pro customer, am I at risk of anything?
Response:

No, nothing will change for Talk2m pro accounts, everything will stay the same and work perfectly. The changes are only affecting Talk2m free accounts. If you have different kinds of accounts (free and pro), please refer to Q10, section 1.

 

Question 5:

What happens to my data if my Talk2m account is suspended?
Response:

Rest assured, your data won’t be lost. You'll still be able to access your account. However, as your account will be suspended, you will no longer be able to remotely connect to your devices, nor will you be able to use datamailbox.

 

Question 6:

What happens to my devices if my Talk2m account is suspended?
Response:

Don't worry, your devices won't be lost. You'll still be able to access your account. However, as your account will be suspended, you'll no longer be able to remotely connect to your devices, nor will you be able to use datamailbox.

 

Question 7:

Where can I see when my Talk2m free account will be suspended?
Response:

By going to Ecatcher, you can see when you last registered a device. By adding 12 months to this date, you'll know how long you can use your Talk2m free account. In any case, you'll receive an e-mail 3 months before your account is suspended, informing you of the situation. So you'll have plenty of time to take action.

 

Question 8:

How will I be notified if I'm approaching the suspension date of my Talk2m free account?
Response:

You'll receive this information by e-mail three months before the suspension of your Talk2m free plan. You'll have plenty of time to take action to avoid your account being suspended.

 

Question 9:

I have multiple Talk2m free accounts, what should I do?
Response:

You can continue to use different Talk2m free accounts, but to do so you'll have to register at least one device per period of 12 months per account.

However, the simplest solution would be to merge these accounts and all your devices into a single Talk2m pro account. Thanks to the advanced user access rights features available in the pro plan, you can create user access rights (with user groups and pools) and manage all your previous accounts in a single account. In this way, you benefit from a simple and secure industrial connectivity solution.

To import all your Talk2m free accounts into a single Talk2m pro/light account:

  • Open the Account tab inside the Talk2m pro account

  • Click on Show advanced settings.
    There you’ll find a section called Import All Ewons from another account.

  • Click the Import all Ewons Wizard button.

 

Question 10:

I have multiple Talk2m accounts, some free and some pro, what should I do?
Response:

You can continue to use different types of accounts. But to continue using Talk2m free, you'll have to register at least one device per period of 12 months per account.

However, the simplest solution would be to merge these accounts and all your devices into a single Talk2m pro account (Click here for more details). Thanks to the advanced user access rights features available in the pro plan, you can create user access rights (with user groups and pools) and manage all your previous accounts in a single account. Question 11:

What is the process to upgrade to Talk2m light or pro?
Response:

To subscribe to Talk2m light, simply contact your distributor or HMS representative, who will handle your request.

To subscribe to Talk2m pro, it's even simpler: go to Ecatcher to request your 3-month Talk2m pro trial. For 3 months, you don't have to pay anything, and then you can decide whether to keep your Talk2m pro subscription or switch to Talk2m light.

 

Question 12:

I upgraded to Talk2m light or pro, what should I do now?
Response:

Once your account has been upgraded to Talk2m light or pro, there's nothing more to do. Simply enjoy your subscription and the features it offers. 

 

Question 13:

What is the process to purchase additional Cosy and/or Flexy devices?
Response:

To order your Ewon Cosy or Ewon Flexy, the procedure remains the same as before: simply contact your distributor or HMS representative. Once your device is in your possession, register it on Ecatcher.

 

Question 14:

I purchased additional Cosy and/or Flexy devices, what should I do now?
Response:

You must register your device to Ecatcher as soon as possible to avoid suspension. There is usually a delay between the time you place your order and the time you receive it. If you're worried that this delay is too long and could result in your account being suspended, you can activate a free 3-month trial of Talk2m pro to save a little time. Please note, however, that you can only use this solution once.

 

Question 15:

I own one or more Cosy and/or Flexy devices which I didn’t registered in Ecatcher yet. Can I connect them to extend my Talk2m free plan? 
Response:

Yes, you don't need to order a brand new Ewon device to continue enjoying Talk2m free, but simply register a device on Ecatcher that has never been connected to the Talk2m cloud. In this case, you'll benefit from an additional 12 months of Talk2m free from the date of registration of your last Ewon device.

 

Question 16:

What happens to my account if I don't comply with the new Talk2m free conditions?
Response:

Your account will be suspended 12 months after the registration of your last Ewon device on Ecatcher. In this case, you'll still be able to log in to your account, but you won't be able to remotely connect to your device, nor will you be able to use datamailbox.

 

Question 17:

Are there any changes to the features of Talk2m free?
Response:

Absolutely not, all features remain the same. The only difference concerns the end of the grace period that previously applied when data transfer limits were exceeded. Now, when this happens, your account is directly capped.

 

Question 18:

Is there any other changes to the existing Talk2m services?
Response:

In addition to changing the terms and conditions of Talk2m free, we are launching Talk2m light. This new subscription plan aims to offer the most useful features for most of our customers at a very attractive price.

 

Question 19:

I register several devices the same day, can I benefit from more than 12 months of Talk2m free?
Response:

Access to Talk2m free for 12 months is not cumulative. If you register several Ewon devices on the same day, the free period will not be extended.

However, each new device registered thereafter restarts a new 12-month period.
Example: you register a new device on June 1st, so you have access to Talk2m free until June 1st of the following year. If you register another Ewon device on July 1st, you'll benefit from Talk2m free until July 1st of the following year.

 

Question 20:

I have one or more Talk2m free accounts, but also one or more Talk2m pro accounts. Is it possible to group them together?
Response:

Yes, it is possible to migrate one or more Talk2m free accounts into a Talk2m pro account.

The Talk2m pro plan allows you to manage several accounts independently, by creating groups and pools and defining the role of each user.

To associate several accounts, go to Ecatcher.

If you wish, you can even hold several Talk2m pro accounts to further increase your data transfer volume.

Good to know: you get a 3-month free trial for every new Talk2m pro you create.

Question 21:

How can I unlock a suspended Talk2m free account ?
Response:

To unlock a suspended Talk2m free account, you have 3 options:

  1. Register a new Ewon device in Ecatcher
  2. Take out a paid subscription, i.e. Talk2m light or Talk2m pro
  3. Activate Talk2m pro's 3-month free trial

Please note that you can only benefit from this free of charge trial once per Talk2m account. If you have already taken this advantage in the past, only option 1 or option 2 remains.
