Easiest way to implement functional safety in mobile machines using CIP Safety

Anybus Safe2Link Remote IO -CS

Item number 1.01.0306.00001

The Anybus Safe2Link Remote IO - CS is a compact, plug-and-play I/O device that mounts directly onto your mobile machine, such as an AGV or AMR, and connects it to factory safety systems via CIP Safety over EtherNet/IP. It simplifies both local and remote safety loops using configurable SafeBound™ logic and support for Safe Stop Category 1 (SS1-t). With a rugged, IP54-rated design and full type approval to SIL 3 / PLe, it's ready for use in certified safety applications making it the fastest and easiest way to implement functional safety in mobile applications. Ideal for system integrators and OEMs.

Features and benefits

  • High safety level assurance

The module meets the SIL3 safety requirement level as defined by IEC 61508 and Performance Level PLe / Category 4 in ISO 13849-1, ensuring a high standard of safety and reliable performance.

  • Integrated safe fieldbus communication

Connects directly to factory safety systems via CIP Safety over EtherNet/IP, no external gateways needed. Safe and non-safe communication are fully integrated; just connect Ethernet and power. Compatible with all standard CIP Safety controllers.

  • Safe Remote Stop

With SafeBound™, local safe inputs such as emergency stop or safety Lidar sensors can be directly linked to the local Safe Torque Off (STO) for fast safe reactions. At the same time, a slower remote safe stop, such as via a wireless fieldbus network, can also be linked to the STO. This supports compliance with ISO 3691-4 and the new EU machinery regulation 2023/1230.

  • Stable operation of mobile devices

To keep mobile devices stable during an STO, the Safe2Link Remote IO/CS implements a Safe Stop Category 1 (SS1-t) function. A non-safe output indicates the necessary ramp-down to the vehicle controller before the STO is activated. The safe ramp-down waiting time can be configured via the safety fieldbus protocol.

  • Plug-and-play type-approved safety device

The Safe2Link Remote IO - CS is a type-approved safety device which is ready to be used. It comes with a Sistema library to simplify the overall safety function approval in the end-device.

  • Compact, IP54-rated design with industrial-grade connectors

Fits directly on or inside mobile machines, even in harsh environments, no separate protective housing required. It uses standardized M12 D-Coded connectors for Ethernet connectivity. Power and I/Os connect via a single D-Sub25 plug, allowing for compact wire harnesses inside the machine.

  • Remote power control for energy efficiency

Additional non-safe controllable IOs can be used to remotely power on/off high-consumption components like main controllers or drives via wireless network, improving battery life and simplifying restarts.

  • Easy retrofit for safety compliance

Supports safe remote stop functions as required by ISO 3691-4 and the new machinery regulation EU 2023/1230. It enables safety-compliant stop functions that can be retrofitted easily with just some cables and a screwdriver.

  • Fast, scalable deployment

With flexible address setting, wide temperature tolerance, and a small footprint, the module supports both greenfield and retrofit installations.
