INTERNSHIP - Web Analytics for Cloud Platform

Engineering & Product Development
Students & Internships
Nivelles, Belgium
Our cloud platform, Ewon Cloud, enables industrial customers to remotely connect to and manage their equipment in a secure and scalable way. To continuously improve our services and better understand how users interact with the platform, we aim to introduce web analytics capabilities that provide actionable insights into user behavior and platform usage. These insights will support multiple objectives such as: - Improving user experience and product design - Understanding feature adoption and usage patterns - Supporting data-driven decision-making across teams However, integrating web analytics into a cloud environment raises several challenges, including: - Selecting appropriate tools and technologies - Ensuring scalability and performance at large scale - Controlling operational and licensing costs - Guaranteeing compliance with privacy and security requirements - Minimizing integration and maintenance complexity Mission: The student will play a key role in defining and implementing a web analytics strategy for our Ewon Cloud platform. The internship will include the following activities: • State-of-the-art analysis of web analytics solutions (e.g., open-source, SaaS, privacy-focused tools, etc.) • Evaluation and comparison of candidate solutions based on: o Features and capabilities o Scalability and performance o Integration complexity with our cloud architecture o Cost and licensing models o Security and privacy considerations • Design and implementation of Proofs of Concept (POCs) to validate selected solutions in realistic conditions • Recommendation of a target solution and architecture • Contribution to integration and development, depending on: o Internship duration o Project priorities o Student profile and progress Master's Thesis Project: This internship is well suited for a Master’s thesis, offering both research depth and practical impact. The thesis may include: • A comprehensive review of modern web analytics approaches (traditional vs. privacy-first vs. self-hosted solutions) • A comparative study of selected tools with clearly defined evaluation criteria • Experimental validation through POCs • Architectural design and integration strategy within a cloud platform • Documentation of results, trade-offs, and recommendations The project combines theoretical analysis with hands-on engineering work, ensuring strong academic value and industrial relevance. Desired Profile: We are looking for a Master's level student in Engineering with a specialization in: • Computer Science • Software Engineering • Data Engineering / Cloud Engineering The ideal student has: • Strong interest in cloud platforms, web technologies, and data analytics • Knowledge of web technologies (JavaScript, HTTP, APIs) • Interest or experience in analytics tools or data processing pipelines • Basic understanding of cloud architecture (microservices, SaaS, scalability concepts) • Awareness of data privacy and security considerations is a plus • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Ability to work independently and take initiative • Good communication and teamwork skills What We Offer: The student will benefit from: • Working on a high-impact project directly influencing product strategy • Exposure to modern cloud architectures and analytics solutions • Hands-on experience in technology evaluation and decision-making • Opportunity to contribute to a feature potentially deployed in production • Mentorship from experienced engineers • A collaborative and innovative working environment • A strong foundation for a Master’s thesis with real industrial value
