HMS Industrial Networks now expands its offering for communication solutions to integrated safety networks. By combining the two HMS solutions IXXAT Safe and Anybus CompactCom, HMS enables industrial devices to comply with the safety standards for PROFINET (PROFIsafe), EtherNet/IP (CIP Safety) and EtherCAT (FSoE).
The Anybus CompactCom products are integrated into an industrial device to provide access to any industrial network. CompactCom comes with a Black Channel interface that allows safe signals to pass through the module transparently, while CompactCom handles the communication with the network.
HMS has offered PROFIsafe connectivity for several years within the Anybus and IXXAT offering. CIP Safety was recently added and now HMS can also offer connectivity to FSoE (Functional Safety over EtherCAT)
By using the Black Channel, users can choose from several ways to implement safety communication into their machines or devices.
IXXAT SafeT100 is a ready-made module for quick implementation of safe IOs. It supports PROFIsafe and CIP Safety and is designed for use together with Anybus CompactCom 40-series. It is also TÜV certified.
If the end user has in-house expertise in functional safety, they might want to develop their own solution using the Anybus Safety Interface (Black Channel). CompactCom handles the network communication while the safety signals passes transparently through the black channel to the application.
