The challenge of this KNX Awards 2026-nominated project was to improve the efficiency of the building’s cooling and heating systems by providing a unified view of energy performance in a single platform.
The objective of this KNX Awards 2026-nominated project was to improve the efficiency of the building’s cooling and heating systems by providing a unified view of energy performance in a single platform. To achieve this, the solution implemented integrates data from M-Bus heat and cooling energy meters into the building management system (BMS), enabling real-time monitoring and centralized energy management. The Palacio de Deportes de Granada facility manager can now use this information to identify inefficiencies, optimize system operation, and make informed decisions that reduce energy consumption and improve overall building performance.
The main challenge was integrating heating and cooling different M-Bus energy meters from various systems into a single management platform. It was necessary to obtain accurate real-time energy consumption data without relying on isolated systems or manual readings. The solution also had to make the data directly available to the building’s Power Management System (PMS) and send it to the BMS to support operational decisions.
Iridium selected one of the 700 series Intesis gateways for metering to connect and integrate the energy meters with the monitoring system.
Thanks to this solution, the sports center facility manager now benefits from:
Iridium selected Intesis for its proven product quality, positive experience from previous projects, and ease of integration and commissioning. Specifically, the Intesis 700 series gateway for metering was chosen for its ability to integrate multiple M-Bus devices, simplifying the overall system architecture and reducing cabling requirements, installation effort and labor time.
Since 2007, Iridium Avanza has specialized in building automation and smart home solutions for residential, commercial, and hospitality projects. The company designs and implements solutions that integrate lighting, HVAC, shading, energy management, security, and monitoring systems into KNX installations. They develop each project to meet the facility's specific operational and comfort requirements while maintaining high-quality standards.
Intesis, the Building Automation division of HMS Networks, is a globally recognized provider of HVAC integration gateways and protocol converter gateways. With more than two decades of experience, Intesis enables interoperability between devices and systems, helping integrators, installers, and building owners connect devices across major industry protocols, including KNX, BACnet, Modbus, OCPP, DALI, MQTT, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, and proprietary HVAC protocols.
