How to setup a CUB5I panel meter for the first time

10 Jul 2025

PLEASE NOTE

The CUB5I panel meter is used to monitor analog DC current inputs, with several ranges available. Based on the application, a few parameters will need to set.

The default input range jumper setting is 20 mA. For applications using signal levels above 20mA, there is a 200 mA position available. Consult page 3 of the product manual for additional information.

Programming the CUB5I based on application is covered on page 7 of the product manual. Parameters that will need to be set.

Menu 1-INPUT

  • Range-input signal level
  • DECPT- display resolution decimal place
  • STYLE-Select either manual key in meter scaling or by using the active input signal
  • INP1- input signal level low. Example 4mA
  • DSP1- display value based on low level input signal.
  • INP2- input signal high value. Example 20 mA.
  • DSP2- display value based on high level input signal

Example unit input scaling procedure

End user has a transducer with a 4-20 mA output and wants the display scale to read PSI.  Pressure range of the transducer is 0-1000 PSI.

The CUB5I scales the input via firmware settings. Please see Page 7 of the CUB5I product manual.  Menu 1-INP

Given the above example, you would program as follows.

  • RANGE 0.02A
  • DECPT  0
  • OFSET  0
  • FILTR    1
  • BAND  10
  • STYLE KEY
  • INP1   4.000
  • DSP1   0
  • INP2   20.000
  • DSP2   1000

The above example was scaled using the STYLE KEY method. The end user knows the input signal type as well as the transducer range.  If the signal type is known but not the range of the transducer.  The CUB5I can be scaled using the active input signal level and then scaled to a known reference value using the STYLE APLY method. Please see page 7 of the CUB5I product manual.
