12 Jun 2025

Please note: This is a Quick set-up Guide to assist you with a basic information to assist you with setting up your counter for counting or Rate.

APPLICABLE PRODUCTS

  • PAXICR
  • Relay Cards, PAXCDS10 or PAXCDS20
  • Input Sensors: Prox Switch, Encoders, Optical sensors......

PRE-REQUISITES

Documentation the lists the specs for the Input sensors that would assist with configuring the Input signal.

Documentation that would assist with configuring the Output if so desired.

IN THIS ARTICLE

  • Setting up the Counter
  • Setting up Rate
  • Configuring the Output (If the need arises)

The first point of discussion would be setting up the Dip switches for the Input signal.

You will need the info on the Input sensor to determine which setting is correct for your application. Also here is the dip switch setting which will come in handy as well:

Once you have the counter getting a Pulse then you should make a few decisions on Count Mode and how it performs a Reset. To accomplish this let's enter into the Program mode and go into (I - INP) Module 1. Note: Please see the attached the Manual for Programming instructions. PAXICR Product Manual_2.pdf

To Program for Count set Count Mode = CNTud then choose a reset action AReset = 2ERO Now at least you can verify if the counter is working, you may have to reference the manual for additional Information.

RATE SET-UP

When attempting to configure Rate, the big mystery is determining how many pulses equals the Units you are trying to figure out. How many pulses equals in one minute RPM's.  The setting (rDSP I) = 60 & (rINP I) would equal the number of Pulses for 1 minute. This is very typical for RPM's. Also there is an APLY method where you turn on the machine and use the Input signal to determine what the number of Pulses would be. (see the Manual). When you have completed the set-up for Rate you should see a (r) on the left-hand side of the display.

ADDTIONAL INFO

There is also USER Inputs that can perform certain functions by using a jumper between the terminals. Some of these functions are Locking out the Program, resetting the display, Reset a setpoint. See Manual Module 2.

Also, if an Output is desired and an Output card is installed, go to Module 6 (6 - SPT).  A setpoint can be used to acuate a relay to create an Output. (see Manual)
