Quick setup quide for Ixxat CAN@net NT: Learn how to install, configure and operate the device using  the CAN-Gateway Tool and the VCI.

CAN@net NT 100, CAN@net NT 200, CAN@net NT 420. 

 

QUESTION

How to correctly set up and configure the Ixxat CAN@net NT device, including software installation, firmware update, IP configuration and mode selection using the CAN-Gateway-Configurator and VCI tools. 

 

ANSWER

  1. Please download and install the current VCI V4 driver package from our webpage:

  2. Download and install the current version of the CAN-Gateway-Configurator from our webpage:
    https://www.hms-networks.com/p/1-01-0332-42000-ixxat-can-net-nt-420?tab=tab-support

  3. Update the firmware, if necessary:

  4. Please configure the firewall allowing the CAN-Gateway-Configurator.

  5. Set the correct IP address using the CAN-Gateway-Configurator.
    Check if the CAN@net NT is answer on ping, if the network card of the PC is configured with the correct static IP address in the same subnet as CAN@net NT.

  6. Set the needed mode (VCI, ECI,  ASCII gateway, local bridge, CAN-Ethernet-CAN) using the CAN-Gateway-Configurator.

  7. For the bridge mode and the gateway mode please configure the CAN@net NT (ports, CAN baud rate, action rules, mapping table) as described in the CAN-Gateway-Configurator manual.

  8. For the VCI mode please add and start a CAN@net NT entry in the VCI-V4-Device-Server-Control as described in the VCI installation manual.
