Position Summary

Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving PCBA manufacturing processes to support quality, cost, delivery, and safety objectives. This role focuses on PCBA panel layout and design, test fixture design and procurement, and continuous improvement initiatives across SMT, THM, and final assembly operations.

The Manufacturing Engineer will work cross-functionally with production, test, quality, and supply chain teams to support new product introductions, resolve manufacturing issues, and drive ongoing process optimization. The role also supports the implementation of new equipment, tooling, and standardized manufacturing practices.

 

Essential Job Functions

·         Design and maintain PCBA panel layouts to optimize manufacturability, throughput, material utilization, and compatibility with SMT, THM, and downstream processes.

·         Develop, specify, and manage test fixtures, including hardware design, fabrication, vendor sourcing, and ordering.

·         Support new product introduction (NPI) activities, including first article inspection, tooling requirements, and production readiness.

·         Help to identify, analyze, and resolve mechanical manufacturing issues impacting quality, yield, cost, or delivery.

·         Collaborate with production, test engineering, quality, and supply chain to ensure robust and repeatable manufacturing processes.

·         Provide technical support to manufacturing personnel and assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions as needed.

·         Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including cycle time reduction, defect reduction, and process standardization.

Minimum Requirements

·         Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

·         2+ years of experience in PCBA manufacturing, or electronics assembly environments.

·         Ability to work independently while effectively supporting cross-functional teams.

·         Strong communication skills for documenting processes and collaborating with internal and external partners.

 

Working Conditions

·         Regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, talk, and hear.

·         Frequent use of hands for handling components, fixtures, and tools.

·         May be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

·         Visual acuity required for close work, color differentiation, depth perception, and to adjust focus.
