How much are you losing on industrial networks?

According to the latest HMS Networks Industrial Network Market Shares report, over 79% of all new factory automation nodes are connected via industrial networks - Ethernet-based networks now dominate with 76% of the total market.

In machine building, every industrial network you support isn’t just a protocol, it’s a sales channel. The report shows just how valuable each one is:

PROFINET (27%)
The go-to in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and much of Western Europe. Required in automotive, industrial equipment, and process automation sectors. If you're selling machines into these markets - PROFINET is table stakes.

EtherNet/IP (23%)
Standard in North America, now expanding in food, beverage, and consumer goods sectors across Europe. A solid choice if you're aligning with Rockwell Automation ecosystems or exporting across the Atlantic.

EtherCAT (17%)
A favorite in high-speed motion and robotics. Think semiconductor equipment, machine tools, and automated inspection systems. Fast, deterministic, and rapidly gaining ground.

Modbus (7%)
Still a workhorse in energy, infrastructure, and HVAC. Ideal for brownfield integration, utility controls, and building automation. Universal, simple, and often overlooked.

PROFIBUS (5%)
Legacy, but still active, particularly in chemical processing, water treatment, and older manufacturing lines. It’s still relevant where retrofit and lifecycle support matter.

CC-Link (2%)
Especially relevant in Asia (Japan, China, South Korea), and increasingly used in automated assembly lines and packaging. If you're exporting or partnering with Japanese OEMs, this network can open doors.

This is where HMS Anybus comes in, not to pick a side, but to remove the problem altogether.
