HMS is seeking a high-performing, dynamic Territory Business Manager for the Midwest US Region.

The Territory Business Manager is responsible for managing sales in the assigned geographic territory and generating new business opportunities that will meet and exceed growth objectives with a primary focus on our direct and channel customers, including System Integrators, Machine Builders, OEMs, device manufacturers, and end users.

Duties of the position include but are not limited to:

  • Solving customer challenges by leveraging the Anybus®, IXXAT® and eWON® product families with a primary focus on our direct and channel partners, including, machine builders, systems integrators, OEMs, device manufacturers, and end users within the assigned territory.  This role requires the individual to be competent in industrial automation application engineering, IIoT applications, and technical sales;
  • The Territory Business Manager should have an entrepreneurial mindset and is responsible for managing, training, guiding, and maintaining its channel partner network.  This includes potentially removing or adding a distributor partner to execute the territory strategy.  The TBM should hold partners to a high standard of conduct and business practices as they are instrumental in HMS increasing our customer base.   
  • Creating, refining, and executing the annual sales strategy for the assigned territory, ensuring the achievement of individual and organizational goals and objectives.  This strategy is submitted to your manager each year for review and feedback. 
  • Achieving sales quotas and assigned strategic account objectives. 
  • Generating technical sales proposals and contracts. 
  • Driving specification and usage of the Anybus®, IXXAT® and eWON® product families requires the individual to be competent in digital hardware and microprocessor development or embedded software development; along with industrial Ethernet and TCP/IP communication protocol knowledge (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, etc.)
  • Expanding mindshare in active customer accounts and identifying new opportunities within those accounts
  • Identifying prospect accounts and making sales calls   
  • Identifying and interpreting customer requirements - speaking with customers to understand, anticipate and meet their needs 
  • Maintaining records of customer communication and sales activity in our CRM and established internal communication systems;
  • Developing account management plans to grow our business within large accounts, including large volume custom product development sales
  • Continual learning mindset with a high degree of technical knowledge to allow in-depth technical presentations and discussions with customers and partners
  • Representing the company at industry events and meetings
  • Other projects as assigned by your manager

This position requires approximately 50% travel within assigned territory. This position reports directly to the Sales Manager - Western Region North America.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field preferred 
  • Working technical knowledge in industrial automation controls, industrial communication protocols, or industrial Ethernet and TCP/IP technologies 
  • 3-5 years industry-related outside sales experience with a track record of success
  • Experience selling engineered/embedded products and solutions
  • Excellent communication skills and presentations skills
  • Great organizational skills and ability to successfully multi-task and prioritize
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
  • Proficient in Customer Relationship Management applications (MS-CRM, Salesforce, etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
