HMS Remote Management Gateway for OEMs now Microsoft Azure certified

HMS Industrial Networks’ OEM-NB301A remote management gateway, is now pretested and certified to work with Azure IoT. The gateway connects to industrial equipment such as generators, pumps, drives and sensors allowing them to be monitored and controlled remotely.

The OEM-NB301A  hardware acts as an edge gateway creating a bridge between standard Azure IoT communications protocols and industrial communications interfaces typically found on sensors and machines. As a consequence, Microsoft Azure users can confidently architect their IoT system leveraging secure data from industrial equipment in the field.

The Azure certification testing verifies that HMS can support all three of Azure's IoT communications protocols including MQTT, AMQPS and HTTPS. 

The gateway is part of HMS’s OEM Toolbox offering which allows users to develop their own tailor-made solution based on HMS hardware.

The OEM- NB301A gateway supports several physical interfaces including CAN bus, Ethernet, USB, RS-232, RS-485, Digital I/O and Analog I/O. All of these interfaces are supported without the need for additional hardware. The gateways are available as an Ethernet-only version and an Ethernet-and-cellular version for uplink to Microsoft Azure.

HMS OEM gateways also support protocol stacks to simplify device connectivity including EtherNet/IP, Modbus-TCP, Modbus-RTU, DF1, J1939, and CANopen.  Additional protocols can be supported upon request.  

How it works:

The OEM-NB301A communication gateway connects to your equipment in the field. The gateway sends data via 3G or Ethernet connection to the Microsoft Azure cloud. By logging into Microsoft Azure, users can then track asset details, alerts and warnings.
