Q. How do I know if a product delivered from HMS is RoHS compliant?

A: A RoHS compliant product is marked with a RoHS sign (see below) on the part number label as well as on the product it self.

In addition to that, it is possible to find out if a product from HMS is RoHS compliant with the help of the part number. A RoHS product part number ends with the suffix –B.

Q. How can HMS guarantee that a RoHS compliant product is completely free from the harmful substances stated in RoHS? Have you analyzed each and every product?

A: HMS rely on the information from our suppliers, every component has been examined and qualified after gathering information from the manufacturer.

Q. If I must have a RoHS compliant product, will HMS guarantee that all products shipped after HMS’s defined start date is compliant according to the RoHS directive?

A: HMS is committed to deliver products which are conforming to the RoHS-directive. Since HMS' products are not in the product groups defined by the RoHS directive, HMS is not legally obliged to follow the directive. If nothing else has been agreed between HMS and the customer, HMS reserves the right to deliver products which are not conform to the RoHS-directive without further notice.

Q. Are HMS’s products covered by the RoHS directive?

A: Products listed in categories 1-7 and 10 in the WEEE directive are covered by the ROHS directive. Accordingly, the products and components manufactured and supplied by HMS Industrial Networks are not covered by the RoHS directive, which is why there is no legal demand on HMS to comply with the RoHS directive when it enters into force on the 1st of July 2006.

Q. Why is HMS transitioning to RoHS despite the lack of legal demand?

A: First of all, HMS is introducing RoHS compliant products in order to aid for a non-polluting environment. Furthermore, many of our customers are requesting RoHS compliant products.

Q. Will the RoHS change over / transitioning have an effect on prices?

A: In most cases HMS will not change any product pricing due to RoHS.

Q. Will products with lead still be available after the transition to RoHS?

A: HMS will continue to offer some products with lead after the transition to RoHS until further notice. These products will be available under their existing part numbers. Products that will not meet the RoHS directive are marked NOT RoHS compliant on the website.
