Manufacturing

HMS has been manufacturing Anybus products for 20 years. One of the core reasons behind the success of HMS is the expertise and dedication in manufacturing and delivering Anybus products of the highest quality standard!

In the autumn of 2007, HMS relocated its HQ and production facility to a new custom-built location in the heart of Halmstad, Sweden. Production is located in a specific area with full ESD and ambient control allowing fullfillment of highest customer demands on soldering quality. The new automated warehouse speeds up the material handling processes and helps to provide just-in-time delivery to large OEM customers. High speed surface mounting, Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI), selective robot soldering and X-ray of BGA soldering quality are all systems and technologies that make HMS stay at the forefront of electronics manufacturing.

Sourcing and Production
The production of industrial network interfaces and adjacent products is a technically complex process with the highest demands for trained staff and adapted automated machinery. HMS has a unique position, being the only independent supplier controlling the production, quality assurance and assembly of critical components and finished products.

Management has strong focus on maintaining best manufacturing technology, processes and quality. The efficient in-house production capability gives management an excellent benchmark when sourcing sub-assembly production capacity externally.

Manufacturing Process

HMS maximises production efficiency through a combination of in-house production and sub-contracting. Sub-contractors are mainly used for surface mounting of components in high volume production, due to economies of scale for large specialised sub-contractors. In the final assembly, the main volume is produced in-house. This is a result of HMS’ tailor-made and highly automated final assembly lines, offering higher flexibility and cost efficiency as compared to benchmarked sub-contractors.

Both HMS’ own facility and the selected EMS manufacturers have substantial scope for increasing production capacity going forward. HMS actively works with continuous improvements of the manufacturing, resulting in increase of efficiency year by year. These improvements help us decrease lead times to come closer to our goal of always meet or exceed customer’s expectations of lead-time. At present we have an on-time delivery ratio of 98 per cent of all orders. Field returns rate is less than 0,05%
