Distributed I/O devices are used everywhere in automation technology. Communication is one of the most important success factors and it is essential that the remote I/O device has a flexible network interface supporting as many networks as possible.
Distributed I/Os are grouped into modular devices using a range of pluggable interface modules and compact devices with a fixed number of I/O signals. A further differentiation a criterion is the mechanical rating with is typically IP20 for standard devices and IP54 or IP65 for devices that can be used outside a switching cabinet.
Master/Scanner functionality
Requirements on such a master / scanner interface include high data throughput, easy configuration and flexibility regarding the network type.
HMS fulfill these requirements and offer ready to use embedded master / scanner solutions for Profibus, DeviceNet, CANopen, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP and AS-Interface.
Along with the embedded communication modules, HMS offers tailor-made configuration tools that are used to describe the configuration of the network and download it into the master / scanner interface.

 The 1 SI CANopen module brings CANopen connectivity to the SIMATIC ET200S Distributed I/O System, allowing full integration between devices on CANopen and ET200S. Furthermore, the addition of 1 SI CANopen module into the ET200S system allows the CANopen network to be seamlessly controlled from PROFIBUS AND PROFINET.
With the 1 SI CANopen, HMS integrates its CANopen Master technology within the SIMATIC architecture. The 1SI CANopen enables the easy integration of Siemens equipment into business segments where CANopen and other CAN based protocols are used today. This plug-in "in-rack" extension for the new SIMATIC ET200S comes with full integration within the Step7 and TIA Portal software architecture.
