Flexible communication is a key successes factor for almost any PLC. Whether a master / scanner interface is needed to control the decentralized I/O devices or a slave interface is required for integration of the PLC as a slave into a upper level control network, the Anybus technology from HMS provides the right solution.Designing a Fieldbus or Ethernet Master / Scanner Interface for a PLC
Via an integrated master / scanner interface it is possible to connect decentralized field devices such as I/O blocks, valves, drives or HMI via the network to the PLC. The network replaces the costly parallel wiring and ensures a reliable and fast data exchange of input and output data between the PLC and the decentralized field devices.
Requirements on such a master / scanner interface include high data throughput, easy configuration and flexibility regarding the network type. HMS fulfill these requirements and offer ready to use embedded master / scanner solutions for Profibus, DeviceNet, CANopen, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP and AS-Interface.
Along with the embedded communication modules, HMS offers tailor-made configuration tools that are used to describe the configuration of the network and download it into the master / scanner interface.
The CM CANopen
enables you to connect any CANopen or CAN 2.0A devices to a
SIMATIC S7-1200 PLC. The module plugs into your
S7-1200 and acts as a bridge between the CANopen/CAN
devices and the micro PLC. This allows you to choose
from a wider range of automation products when
designing your system.Available from Q1 2013 this plug-in "in-rack" extension for the new SIMATIC S7-1200 PLC comes with full integration within the TIA Portal software architecture. Contact HMS for more information about integrated "in-rack" Master/Scanner communication modules. |
Designing a Fieldbus or Ethernet Slave Interface for a PLC
Via an integrated slave / adapter interface, it is possible to integrate the PLC as a slave or adapter into an upper level control network. This is a typical application for small and micro PLCs, where the PLC performs data pre-processing and the pre-processed data is transmitted via the fieldbus / Ethernet network to a hierarchical higher ranked control system.
Requirements on such a slave / adapter interface solution include high flexibility regarding the type of network, transmission of small amounts of data, access to cyclic process I/O data and acyclic parameter via the same network interface and low connectivity cost.
The Anybus® CompactCom™ family allows you to integrate fieldbus and industrial Ethernet network capaiblites into your PLC/Micro PLC in various form factors and with different performance capabilities.
